    3. I am looking for details of ELIZABETH SEVERS b.1752 in North Yorkshire. Her parents were John Severs and Elizabeth. She had 6 brothers and sisters all of whom were baptised at Hipswell ( near Catterick ) as she was. Elizabeth married David Pittre at Hipswell on 23.5,1774 and the records say that they both came from Colburne ( sic ) They had 7 children but after the first ( John Pittre ) the family changed their name to Pickering. Is my Elizabeth in your family? Welcome to the SEVERS mailing list! You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made to SEVERS as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to SEVERS-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to SEVERS-L-request@rootsweb.com. 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to SEVERS-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to SEVERS-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to SEVERS-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both. For your verification, a transcript of the original subscription request is included below. -- >From cheryl@meza.co.uk Wed Mar 12 03:15:50 2003 >Received: from mail.rootsweb.com (mail.rootsweb.com [192.168.16.34]) > by lists2.rootsweb.com (8.12.8/8.12.8) with ESMTP id h2CAFoh4020102 > for <SEVERS-L-request@lists7.rootsweb.com>; Wed, 12 Mar 2003 03:15:50 -0700 >Received: from mx.exim.plus.net (mx.last.plus.net [212.159.3.230]) > by mail.rootsweb.com (8.12.8/8.12.4) with ESMTP id h2CAFnCY020652 > for <severs-l-request@rootsweb.com>; Wed, 12 Mar 2003 03:15:50 -0700 >Received: from [212.159.14.223] (helo=marstons.services.quay.plus.net) > by mx.exim.plus.net with smtp (Exim 3.16 #2) > id 18t3Gz-000449-00 > for severs-l-request@rootsweb.com; Wed, 12 Mar 2003 10:15:45 +0000 >Received: (qmail 17188 invoked by uid 10001); 12 Mar 2003 10:15:44 -0000 >Received: from meza25.force9.co.uk (HELO mez) (212.159.112.85) > by marstons.services.quay.plus.net with SMTP; 12 Mar 2003 10:15:44 -0000 >From: "Cheryl" <cheryl@meza.co.uk> >To: <severs-l-request@rootsweb.com> >Subject: "subscribe" >Date: Wed, 12 Mar 2003 10:15:40 -0000 >Message-ID: <LNEHKCBGGNPFIBBGIJIAOEAPCDAA.cheryl@meza.co.uk> >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Content-Type: text/plain; > charset="iso-8859-1" >Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit >X-Priority: 3 (Normal) >X-MSMail-Priority: Normal >X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook IMO, Build 9.0.2416 (9.0.2910.0) >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1106 >Importance: Normal > > > >
