I have SEAVERS/SEVERS from Yorkshire in my line. The first three children of George SEAVERS and Jane COLLEY of Alne, Yorkshire were christened in the parish register as SEAVERS and the last three were listed as SEVERS. When my gggmother, Mary, the youngest, who born in 1810, married in Easingwold, Yorkshire, in 1848 she was back to a SEAVERS in the parish register. This seemed to go according to how the different vicars spelled it. We were always told to pronounce it as SEVERS although we spelled it SEAVERS.
