The following abstract from D. C. Gideons's history of "Indian Territory." NY and Chicago: The Lewis Publishing Company, 1901. pp 349, 350. "Captain Frederick B. Severs…a native of Arkansas, his birth occurred in Washington county, of that state, on the 13th August, 1835. His father, Charles J. Severs, was a native of Tennessee, and his mother, who bore the maiden name of Basima T. Ballard, was born in South Carolina… pursued his education until he was fifteen years of age, when he entered the Cane Hill College at Cane Hill, Arkansas… He entered upon his business career when seventeen years or age, by becoming a salesman in the store of W. C.
