1. Change in list setup.
2. We only have 22 -L subscribers and 7 -D subscribers so the list is not very active. I would hope anyone with Severs info would post it and anyone with querry would get response from anyone capable of helping them. THere are wonderful querry boards and search features at several places, possibly someone would like to post the addresses. WWW.Familytreemaker.com www.ancestry.com are primary. I would recommend a careful review of them for any beginner and remember, when posting, to change the subject line so that it lists the point of your message and will search well for future use and NOT just use the original tag line. I have changed the list setup such that querries responses all go to the list by default (Click on reply) so that we can all get the info. It is easy to delete it if it does not apply. I would suggest about every 90 days that we go through a "roll call" and publish something outlining the family line of your main interest and your major question. Debbie Leftwhich is no longer at her @Home network and her messages are bouncing. Anyone with her adress please ask her to resubscribe under her new address . Someone on the list asked about Gabriel Severs of IN and unrelated to the Muhlenberg Co Gabriel. There is a posting by a living Gabriel Severs GabrielSVRS@aol.com that, I believe suggested a relationship to the Muhlenberg Co group of Severs but not to their Gabriel directly. This was a reply to a message board. Best from the List administrator Charles Severs I am always glad to do a computer search for anything related to SVRS and be helpful time permitting. I have a new l850 and l880 complete Census which is searchable. Dont forget that Severs is the most commonly misspelled name this side of Poland and that noone could spell before about l860

2. Someone was asking about Severs Clinton a few weeks back and , at the time I did not know the Connection but have found it if anyone is interested. "Stories of the old Frederick Severs Ranch house in Okmulgee Indian Territory" A man named Clinton was a ranch hand and set up a ranch for himself at Mounds after a time and his herd came from the Severs Ranch. Clinton married a Creek woman named Adkins. They are survived by several children among whom is a Dr Fred Severs Clinton of Tulsanamed for the Captain (Frederick Ballard Severs). Charles Severs The Frederick B Severs ranch was 4,000 acres at its heyday and in l890 had 25,000 head of cattle and another time 5-7,000 range horses. He was the builder of the Severs Hotel in Okmulgee

1. W F Seaver/Severs
2. Seaver, W. F. (pp. 360, 361) Return to Biographical Index W. F. Seaver was born in Rock Island, Illinois, February 22, 1849, and was the son of John Seaver and Eliza Criswell, who emigrated to Illinois in 1840, the former being a native of Virginia. At the age of sixteen, William left his home and traveled indiscriminately through the States, adopting various means of making a living throughout sixteen States which he visited in turn. Having sowed his first crop of wild oats, the young man, determining to study for a profession, entered the Alexandria College, Alexandria, Missouri, and then read law under Hon. E. Kimble, of Nevada, Missouri. He was admitted to the bar September, 1877, at Memphis, Missouri, under Judge John C. Anderson, district judge, fourth judicial district. Mr. Seaver holds licenses in Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Oregon, which latter State he left in December, 1890, having practiced eighteen months in Salem. On moving to Muskogee, Indian Territory, he formed partnership with Joshua Ross, an Indian lawyer, and with whom he is at present connected in business. Mr. Seaver has had a very adventurous life and broad experience for a man of his years. In 1878, he became involved in the Leadville excitement, and spent three years of his life, as well as $2,350, in fruitless prospecting. Mr. Seaver comes of Indian lineage on both sides. His grandfather was born of a Creek woman by an Irish father, while his great-grandmother was part Creek and Cherokee, by name Murphy, and who married William Ross, of the Scottish Ross family, one branch of which married into the Cherokees. Mr. Seaver married a Miss Neil, of Barton County, Missouri, in 1884, and is without family. He is a pleasant, dignified and gentlemanly man, with great natural adaptability, but his talents are chiefly centered in the law which is the profession to which he is best adapted.

1. Frederick B Severs and Severs burials in Muscogee OK Cemetery
2. Possibly someone knows who some of these Severs are. I wll outline what I hope I know about them Annie A Severs died l-l-1914 wife of Frederick B Severs she was 1/2 indian and d/o George Anderson a secondary Creek Chief. Bess M Severs died 3-16 l958 daughter of FB and ANnie Capt F B Severs died 4-23 l912 Frederick B Severs (Captain from Confederate army) Child of Sam no date presumably a young child of Samuel Severs Samuel Severs died 6-17 1906 presumably an adopted son of Frederick B.Another source says Samuel B Severs was 1/4 Indian which was the same as children of FB and Annie Severs but a biobraphy written about l895 says they had 6 children and the only living were daughters (Bess, Mary, and Annie as I recall). born l870+ Clara Jackson Severs died 4-8-1981 (Father of F B Severs was Charles Jackson Severs so I assume this was a later generation of one of the other males in that group of siblings of F B Severs Emma Lee Severs died 3-16-1975 (anyones guess) Frederick B Severs ll-24 1986 (anyones guess unless it was l886 in which case it might be a male child of FB and Annie who died young as there were 3 children who did not reach maturity. Lena Severs (Anyones guess) Samuel Severs died l-31 l992 (anyones guess) Likely the later Severs were related and desc from Wm Severs l797 son of Wm Severs and Catherine Peck as that William and, possibly his brother Daniel H Severs born l802 were the only Severs in the broad area as their brother John Severs l798 moved to Nodaway Co MO about l849 and died there. William l797 died in Newton CO MO which was much closer. Daniel H Severs died in Phillips Co AR and Frederick B Severs had lived for some time in Washington Co AR Charles Severs
