I beleive that the #1 James Severs in the first chart is the same as the #3 James M. Severs in the 2nd chart. I would like to know the documentation for James Severs born in 1827. Within the last 10 years, my family tried to contact all of the Joel F. Severs decendants. According to papers I have recieved from my Uncle Andy, Joel Severs son's name was Dwight Russel born 1898 and married Lola Pigg. I have a picture of Dwight as a small child with his family. The only documentations I have that support my uncles papers are two censuses. A 1900 Lawrence Co., MO census lists Joel F. as head of household age 49 born in IL, Eliza, Joel's wife, age 44 born in IL, Bertha, Joan, Laura, Lula, Edna, Nina and Russell Dwight age 1 born in MO 1898. All were children of Joel. The 1930 Jasper Co., MO census I have is Severs, Russel V. age 31 born in MO, Vola M. age 28 born in MO is his wife. the children are Russel W. age 6 born in MO and Joe age 5 born in MO and Edward age 3- 8?/12. are they the same person. Dates are misssing from some reports and just enough to NOT be sure. I had a record of gen 1-3 of the outline below. and was given a family tree by Vesta N Severs of Newton MO of a nearby Severs family who thought they were related to her line (WilliamSevers born l797 TN). They gave her the info on Russell Dwight Severs and R D Severs, Both had sons named Dwight but one had a list of children and it did not include John W Severs and the other had a brother of Dwight listed to be John W Severs. Dwitht had a burth date of March 2 l937. The other had a birth date estimate bet l930-1945. One had a wife named Laura Rose Wecker and the other did not. It appears these are the same Dwight Severs and it appears that Russell Dwight, RD < and Rusell D Severs are all the same person. This is how errors get made and I may have made one. Does ANYONE know the facts or a way to prove them. Does ANYONE know if RD< Russell D> or Russell Dwight Severs are the SAME or DIFFERENT.. Does anyone know anything about James M Severs and wife Elizabeth in Illinois??? This is the outline. I have a Severs married to a Vitula Bruington from IL and some mention of someone named Vitula was made. There was a mention of a Pearl Severs and I have someone called Parley--It is a long shot but worth a little pursuit. Charles Severs--list manager and always glad to help. I dont have anything on the Yorkshire Severs as I had thought anyone named Severs from England would be spelled Seaver(s) but did not know. There seems to be a universal believ that many Severs had French Hugenot ancestry and were run out of France with the Hugenot exodus. I suspect this is a fall out from the research on John Sevier of TN and the first Governor of TN about l793 and Rev War Soldier and hero. He seemed to be of French Hugenot desc.

has a collection titled "The F B Severs Collection". I believe it is in the archives at OK City but do not know. It is probably documents related to years of Indian Affairs and nothing to do with him, his fmily, or his Civil War Service but I do not know. Does anyone know anything of the contents of this Collection? There was an interesting article in a Muskogee OK press on the "Severs Hotel" which has been renovated into a bank building and is still in use after years of abandonment or dilapidation. Some years ago Barry Carroll purchased an AMberotype photo of F B Severs in an Antique shop. It was accompanied by a box of papers and a matching picture of a finely dressed Indian Woman. When Barry did some research he found FBS had married an Indian (Annie Anderson). He rushed back to purchase the remainder and found it had been sent to San Francisco to an auction house and sold. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of any of this material could do the purchaser and Mr Carroll a great service by making a contact (csrelix@epix.net) or to me. I believe the picture had her name on the back as the one of FBS had his name on the back. The value (both historical and financial ) of both pictures and material would be greatly enhanced if each owner knew of the other. Charles Severs

SPECULATION: Since George and Emeline married Sept. 1864, it may be that Alice was a daughter of Mary Emeline by her first marriage to her cousin, John B. Seaver, s/o Jeremiah. Although the 1870 census does not indicate a different last name for Alice, it could be that she took her stepfather's name, but used her legal name for her marriage, or it could be a census error. Although this is speculation, there was no Alice living in any of the Seaver households in 1870.
