There are several factors in setting things up that allow you to do this. First click on MAIL in the tool bar up top...then select MAIL SETTINGS. Under the GENERAL tab at the bottom is a choice of reply options. You can select either including all text of the original message in your reply or only including selected text (meaning text you highlight prior to clicking on reply each time). Next you can select your quote style -- either a blue line which denotes the quoted text, indented text for the quoted text or "none" which has no formatting to it--just quotes the text. JOAN I JUST HIGHLIGHTED THIS TEXT AND HIT REPLY .... AND DA HERE I AM AND IF THE LIST ALLOWED COLORS I COULD HAVE CHANGED MY FONT COLOR TOO.... Once you have the mail settings the way you want them--when you want to reply to a message click on reply. Then have your cursor blinking where you wish to insert your reply text and then click on the RED A in the tool bar at the top of the email reply window and select the color you want from the chart that comes up. Click the button to extablish that color and then just type your text. If you are interspersing your reply into the original message each time you click to place your cursor into a new spot within the original old text you are replying to you will need to bring down the color menu again and select the color again. If you are typing your reply all in one place, then you only need to do this once. Note that this doesn't work if you are replying to a mailing list message because the colored text and formatting won't work with plain text emails--and RootsWeb lists only permit plain text emails.
