Most of these scanning programs don't pick up from where they left off when you close them down or stop a scan - they start again. So it's a time consuming thing to do and generally better to do when you're not using the PC yourself. NT> What I got off the Properties was Pink and blue.... Scan Disc isn't in WinXP - it's been replaced by Check Disc. Disc Cleanup looks at the temporary files on your system and gives you the option of tidying up after programs that leave these behind - they are really supposed to be erased when no longer needed but most times they aren't, hence the need for Disc Cleanup every once in a while :-) NT> Whew.... this computer house-keeping is worse than "House" NT> housekeeping (perhaps I know more about the latter than the NT> former!!) Hi, Barry, I found out for myself that it does not pick up where it left off.... <sigh>....so that will have to wait til I don't need to be on the computer.... I ran the "defrag"...and the "Check Disc" (it would be really NICE if they did not change names on you!!) As to the "Pie".... the blue has 9.77GB out of a total of 144GB... I checked out this Disc Cleanup, and this is what it said.... at the top of the "box".....would gain 608,163KB of Disc Space... the rest of the list said: (files that could be deleted) Temp internet files.......................................................34,928KB Offline web pages..............................................................21KB Recycle bin.........................................................................0KB Set up .log files.............................................................3,315KB Temp files.......................................................................... 0KB Web Client/Publishers temp files.........................................32KB Compressed files....................................................... 569,869KB Catalog for theContent Indexer.............................................0KB Total Amt. Disc Space gained...........................................34,928KB Are there any I should keep there? Thanks, heaps!!!! NancyT NT> As far as running the AdAware, it confused me when I got there...
