Norton is pretty slow at the best of times and you could have left it running whilst you were out then when you got back it would either show a clean system or have stopped at the detection of a virus. I think you can set it to auto-clean and carry on but not being a Norton user I'm nor sure of that. You do need to run a complete scan though, same as AdAware. Now this is unusual as you have plenty of free space on your Hard Drive from the figures below ( presumably you got these from the My Computer icon and getting the properties of the drive ? ). When you ran it you should have got a display showing the used space with blue, red, yellow and white areas. The white parts show the free space you have - how much white area does it show and how much of the display is red ?? Clip-art isn't that much of a space hog and you'd need hundreds of thousands of files to even begin to make a dent in that 144Gb of space <lol> NT> Sorry.... but I am not really good at this part of computing.... Barry. As far as running the AdAware, it confused me when I got there... too much I didn't know...or couldn't remember!! I guess it's not FAST!!! and it did not begin again where it had left off, either!! I guess I'm just gonna have to pick a time (long time!!! LOL) when I don't have to be on the computer! I did get those figures off the My computer icon, properties....When I got to "defrag" the box said all this about the "14% and the 15%" I had never run into that before... so I didn't know what to do with it! What I got off the Properties was Pink and blue.... I didn't see any red, yellow or white....was that what the "defrag" was supposed to show me? Someone, Carolyn I think, said to run "Scan Disc".... I couldn't find anything with that name... it mentioned " Disc Cleanup" and "Disc Defragmenter".....but didn't see anything about Scan disc...I remember doing that on my Win98se... seems it was a LOT easier to find....Is Disc cleanup and Scan disc one and the same thing? Whew.... this computer house-keeping is worse than "House" housekeeping (perhaps I know more about the latter than the former!!) Thanks!
