What you are experiencing is a problem with the Windows Installer program. I had a similar experience and I know how it can "drive you nuts!" :-). However, I stumbled across some help from Microsoft after a few months. They have a "clean-up utility" which fixed it for me and I should imagine it will do the same for you, too. You can read about it and download it from here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301 This site too has some illustrated steps about the clean-up utility: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/MSICLEAN.htm Heed their warning, though: [QUOTE] The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is provided "as is" to help resolve installation problems for programs that use Microsoft Windows Installer. If you use this utility, you may have to reinstall other programs. Caution is advised. [END QUOTE] Despite that warning, I experienced no problems with other programs. Lance P. S. Now every time I start my computer, it asks if I want to install this program. I am assuming it is in my start-up routine. How do I get it out of there? If I just let it re-install one time, will it stop? I have to totally disable the Scanner while it installs or it will create a problem per the manufacturer.
