Hi Barry, Marilyn& all, I think Barry's answer might be the right one. But just in case it's not, when I got my new beaut p.c. a couple of months back, with XP, I had in my start menu, a direct link via the start menu + a few different phone ports. With the ph line in the top socket, I could connect to the internet via the start menu ...but same as you Marilyn, NOTHING. I rang p.c. docs .... I had the ph line in the wrong hole !!! (red face) There are ph. sockets WAY down the bottom, or there are on mine. That's the one you should use. I think (?????) I then tried to get to get on again via the start menu & connection from there. Still no go, I'm guessing that got something to do with broadband ? So then I double clicked internet explorer & away we went, no problems at all. And no problems since then. I hope this helps.
