    1. Re: [SR-NEWBIE] Reasons for research

    3. I became interested in my family history because my cousins were planning a first-ever reunion, and I thought it would be nice to compile what an uncle had begun many years before, before the age of computers. I used a cousin's computer and the very first version of Family Tree Maker because that is what he had. I sorted through letters to and from aunts and uncles and cousins and gleaned information for 6 generations back. I learned to use a computer because of the desire to use FTM. I continued to research because I wanted to know more about the people whose genes I carry. It was FUN, like putting the pieces of a puzzle together or solving a mystery. I am who I am because of the people who came before me, and I like feeling like I can know them through research. No one else in my generation of my family has been as obsessed as I have in researching, but that's okay. It is my job in my family to leave the information I have collected for the next generations. Some one, some day will pick up the torch and carry on. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.308 / Virus Database: 266.11.0 - Release Date: 4/29/2005
