    3. Hello, friends. My HP Pavilion 7955 with WinXPHome has been diagnosed as needing System Recovery. Among other things, the CD drive doesn't work right. It apparently will "read" a CD, but it won't "burn" one. When a CD-RW is inserted into the drive, it causes a rather loud high-pitched "whine" over my speakers. The DVD drive doesn't work at all, and there are also other issues with the PC. I mention all that just to give you an idea of what I'm dealing with. My plan is that before I do the System Recovery, I will send my genealogy e-mails to my husband's PC. He will Save them as files in his My Documents, so he can burn them onto a CD. Then after we do the Recovery on my PC and get it re-programmed, I plan to run my e-mails back into my PC from his CD. (They will then be files in my My Documents.) I have already sent my PAF genealogy record, photos, and other genealogy-related files from my present My Documents to my husband's PC, and he has already burned a CD of them. The main issue now is my genealogy e-mails. Some questions: 1) Will my plan work? 2) Is it possible the CD drive will be able to "read" and install the System Recovery CDs, even though it can't burn a CD? 3) Is there a way to forward large quantities of e-mails at once? Or will I need to do each one by itself? (I have 200-300!!) 4) Might someone suggest a better plan? Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to offer. Grace Georgia, USA In God we trust.
