I've tried Lance ........ so near and yet so far ......... I have relaxed my security to allow http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/PDF/Foxit-PDF-Reader.shtml to get through and what happens (as did yesterday) I get this dialogue; 'an attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file' and when I click on the this I get another dialogue which says 'The file appears to be damaged' which gives me an OK button to click and when I do this I get my welcome to 'Personal Ancestral File' where I have 19 family history files stored. I have checked and rechecked these 19 files for damage and all are OK. Very perplexed indeed. Hi Joe. I've been getting the same msgs when I try to open some of the files pertaining to my PAF, but I haven't even downloaded the SoftPedia website that you mentioned. What I'd like to know, though, is: How can I open those files again? I used to be able to double click them, and they'd open, but since the msg about a supposed attempt to move the file pointer and the msg about the file being damaged, they won't open I hope someone has a solution.
