I have a .dll that I want to install and it brings up a window that asks you to open it with one of these programs and it has a list. They are all programs that are on my computer, like Internet Explorer, Micro Money and all the rest microsoft programs, notepad, adobe, etc. I have chosen each one and none of them work. Does this have to be set up and how?
Unless it was a clickable .exe file, I suspect you put the .dll where it is supposed to be, usually in the proper program folder. What did it tell you at the website where you downloaded it? Bob, you didn't mention "why" you need to install this ".dll" (?). You didn't mention which OS you are using (?). "DLL" files can be saved in literally hundreds of places on your computer. You don't need to "open" it - the system looks after that aspect. DLL incidentally stands for "dynamic link library". It is an "executable" file that cannot run on its own. It can only run from inside an executable file (which is the core of any program). To do this an executable needs to "declare" the DLL function, then when needed the "call" is made with the required parameters. That is why you need to tell us "which" program needs this "missing dll" you are trying to install and what OS you are using. Lance P. S. Check out Legacy Family Tree today!
