I accidentally saved some documents in Paint, now I need to change them over to notepad. when I open it with notepad, all I get are squares and squiggles, and I am having trouble setting the colors, I am using W-ME, 308 mgs of ram and a 30 gig hard drive, 56k modem. It is a Compaq 52WV280 series. Hi Peggy If you saved in Paint you no longer have text. The text is now part of of a picture file- jpeg, bmp or whatever you saved it as. I believe good OCR programs can open these file types and(with the usual OCR errors) capture the text. I'm not sure this is worth the expense, and OCR can be tricky. Do you have other options, like finding another text copy, or copying from the files you have with good old fashioned typing? I'm not sure what you mean in the second question. Setting colours in a program mentioned here, or Windows? In Windows- press Start---Control Panel---Display, choose the Settings tab. I think that is right for Me.
