Hi Nancy, Sometimes they just wear out and the contacts just don't quite work anymore. You might just need to get a new mouse but if you do get the kind without a ball. They are great and work with lots less trouble. I realize that this usually indicates some gunk inside... But, I just cleaned it about a month ago!! Same symptoms, and there was hardly any gunk in it at all, then. (I can get it apart, but have to wait for husband to come in, so he can put it back together! i can't do it.) Could anything else be causing this extremely annoying behavior? Have I got a bad mouse? It seems to get this way, really often... Grrrr! Thanks, NancyT
