This past week my computer has begun to black screen and restart itself at random. I have justin the last week downloaded the update for my MCAffee security center(virus scan). Would there be any relation between these two things? Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks, Helen

Possibly, but a more common reason for a system to suddenly restart all by itself is overheating. How long is is since you had the case insides cleaned, if ever ?? During use, the fans inside a PC pull in quite a bit of dust and fluff - this then prevents efficient cooling. So it's an important housekeeping job to keep the insides clean too, if you aren't up to the job yourself your local PC tech should be able to do it reasonably cheaply. Also worth mentioning that there's a lot of very hot weather about right now and if it's particularly hotter than usual then this too could be a factor.
