I haven't even tried to do it yet! but am working up to that. As well, I got a CD from a book from Canada that I have to unearth to see if it will work. Just thought of it in relation to my genealogy when the one from NZ didn't work. Nancy

If a home recorded CD doesn't work then the problem may be the way it's been recorded ( e.g. not closed off for reading on a PC other than the one it's been written on ), or damage to the CD ( scratches, fingerprints, or being left in a hot place / exposed light ), or the CD drive doesn't like the particular make of CD ( different dyes are used by different makes and the colour difference may make some drives fail to detect properly ), or the lens on the reading CD has a bit of dust on it ( a CD lens cleaner disc is often all that's needed to fix this one ). A few of the reasons why saving data to CD is being superceded by the use of USB flash drives. These are cheap enough to buy, save data on, and post to friends - who can always record stuff on them to post back of course :-) -- Best regards, Barry mailto:barry@yobunny.co.uk MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 9.04 'Jaunty'
