    3. Why not just send the email to yourself as well as the intended party. That way when it comes back to you, you will be able to print it, and or save it in a seperate file. In my Hotmail, the printer icon never shows up in an e-mail that is being composed.. I guess Hotmail thinks that one would never want to print an e-mail in draft mode -- just an e-mail sent or received. HOWEVER, if you print the whole web page from the FILE > PRINT, then it will print everything on the web page including e-mail undergoing composition along with all of its little formatting icons. So, I guess if you want print off a Hotmail e-mail still in draft mode, you're out of luck. Or are you? I don't understand, as you say your formatting icons print on the left. Anyway, a sent or received e-mail should should show the printer icon or equivalent, depending on how Hotmail has reconfigured their e-mail page appearance (again).
