Vonda, If the computer insists on running its anti-virus program before getting serious about working, I'd just turn it on first thing and do something else for that 20 minutes. That's what I do with mine. First thing I do in the morning when I get up is turn on the computer, go off and drink my coffee and read the paper, and by then it's settled down and ready to go. Hibernate is not enabled but I have changed some of the other settings under Power Options and if that doesn't do the trick I will change the screen saver. Now if I could just figure out how to stop McShield.exe from running for 20 minutes each time I turn on the computer I would be a happy camper! I have to unplug the laptop from power, remove the battery, reconnect all, and reboot. For some reason, my laptop will not let me change the power options to "do not hibernate". Other laptops have a hibernation recovery program, and will allow a change to "do not hibernate". For your laptop, if you want to avoid it going into hibernation, Go into Control Panel > Power Options Reset it so it does not go into hibernate. You may also have a screen saver that's faulty so try changing to a different one to check that.
