Barry- You brought back a very bad and vivid memory from many years ago when I kept false positive alerts of a virus (didn't know they were false at the time and it was very scary--my first encounter with a supposed virus). I was using PC Cillin at the time (now Trend Micro) and I kept getting this alert (their little barking dog warning) that I had the Word Wieder Virus and that it couldn't be repaired. I called the computer shop I was using at the time and they suggested before I did anything else I should notify Trend Micro and ask them about it. They came back saying it was a false positive and told me to download the newest profile which fixed the error--updated virus profiles didn't come through automatically in those days. So I get all upset over nothing--a false positive. Turns that that ANY file on your computer that mentioned GeoCities was coming up as this Word Wieder Virus--irreparable. Instances of these 'false positives' are less than they used to be but every AV program gets them once in a while !!
Huh! that is very interesting.... Though the McAfee tech took control over the computer, asked a bunch of questions and seemingly found them. Anyway, something to think about before I jump next time.
