Thanks Woody... I tried a couple of disks AND I swapped out my drive for my Dad's and I had the same problem. I only use it to back up one program, but it is critical data. I really like your idea about emailing myself a copy and saving on AOL. I've been looking at external hard drives and guess it's just time to bite the bullet and get one!! The magnetic media on the disks can go bad at any time, just like 5.25 and 3.5 floppies. The sooner you stop using it as a back-up, the better off you'll be. Also, back up to two disks in case one goes bad. I used to have a 100mb Iomega parallel zip drive myself, but stopped using it years ago, as a few of my 100mb disks went bad and I couldn't trust it, plus it was slow. I've still got it around here somewhere -- if you live in the OKC area you can have it, plus the disks. You can back up your data reliably by e-mailing yourself on one or more of your AOL addresses and include your files as attachments and store it on AOL rather than your computer. Also you can do the same on GMail. **************Can love help you live longer? Find out now. For money, I believe Iomega once retrieved data. Whether they still do, I don't know. Check their website. I had an entire backup fail because one of the disks failed. I now use an off line backup (Carbonite) and a 1TB external.
