    1. Re: [SR-NEWBIE] AVG 7.5 Free anti-virus program finished?
    2. Dear all, Sorry to keep beating this dead horse, but I appear to be still having troubles with Avast. I have removed the three AVG programs, apparently remaining on my hard drive, from the startup menu (via msconfig) so I get no icons or indications that AVG is still active. But during the first Avast update, I received a red popup: "An error has occurred while attempting to update. Click here for more information." So I did, and received this: "Information about current update: Last encountered error: Not enough storage is available to process this command. Total time: 17:49". I'm not sure what sort of "storage" they mean, but my 9 GB hard drive has 5 GB of free space. If they mean RAM, I have at least 128 MB (I may have added more later, but forget how to find out the number [gr]). And now, after a week of failed daily updates, Avast got "fed up" and told me my database was out of date, and started a download of about 3.6 MB. It got to about 3.0, and then I got another "not enough storage" error message. I wonder if these storage errors are an indication that AVG is still intruding into Avast's operation? I tried Barry's Microsoft Cleanup site, but I didn't see where it would apply to Win98SE and, besides, it froze my computer when I tried to get away from it..... and I had to shut down and reboot. I have RegCure on my hard drive and used that. But it's only the free version, and doesn't seem to include uninstall problems in this version. Cora suggested Revo Installer, but it won't work with Win98. She and Jayne also mentioned CCleaner, which will work, but I haven't jumped into the water on that one, yet. I often get into trouble with broad-brush programs, as I'm usually looking for a specific solution while the program wants to play-around with everything..............and I often have difficulties wading-through all of the options. Any ideas? I'll probably try the CCleaner download - when I get the courage - and I hope that might clear-out the remaining AVG bits. Assuming that is my problem, of course, and not something else [gr]. Pete ....................................................
