Maureen and Barry, Thanks for the recommendation about Avast. After several hours, it finally downloaded and installed. I've tried to uninstall the parts of the old AVG 7.5, but I get error messages everywhere. I've removed what bits of it I can find, and disabled the "Control Center", so perhaps it won't cause any trouble. Neither the AVG Uninstall nor the Windows Add/Remove Programs will completely uninstall. We'll see. Thanks again. Pete ....................................................
