If it didn't complain about an existing AV then your AVG was evidently already disabled so it won't conflict. Neither the AVG Uninstall nor the Windows Pac> Add/Remove Programs will completely uninstall. Usually the way to fix a program that won't un-install is to re-install it and then remove immediately, however this would conflict with your Avast so you'd need to remove that too and put back when you sorted AVG out. A lot of hassle and as long as there's nothing still active from AVG you can ignore what's been left behind. There is the Windows Cleanup Utility which can sometimes remove left over bits of programs that fail to remove properly. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 According to the description on this page the program works all the way back to Win95 so should be OK for you to try - it'll soon tell you if it's now not compatible with anything prior to Win2000 !! -- Best regards, Barry mailto:barry@yobunny.co.uk MicroSoft Free Zone running Xandros 4.0 Home Edition Premium
