I have had AVG 7.5 for a few years, and have had no problems with it. I have been manually updating (more or less daily) my AVG program. As of the end of April, when I attempt to update, I get a box telling me that everything is OK, there are no new updates and everything is fine [gr]. Now, after more than a week of getting this message when I try to update.....I finally got the black icon this morning, telling me that the AV Database is out-of-date and should be updated. But it won't do that. Going through the various links from the AVG page, it appears that this free version of AVG is no longer supported - as of the end of April. Would my configuration be the reason for the discontinuance of support? I couldn't find an updated free AVG version, such as 8.0 or such, from the links on the page. I am on dial-up, using WinME on this computer. Perhaps I should uninstall the AVG 7.5 and go to one of the choices for free AV support recommended in the latest issue of Consumer Reports magazine? I just recently down loaded AVG 8.5 and I use dialup at home myself. It works fine. ----- Original Message ----- From: <PeteScherm@aol.com> To: <senior-newbie@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 08, 2009 3:02 AM Subject: [SR-NEWBIE] AVG 7.5 Free anti-virus program finished? >I have had AVG 7.5 for a few years, and have had no problems with it.
