G'Day Ron I'm certainly no expert in this matter, but I too have had the same problem with home movies my son gave me mainly with .AVI extensions. (I see you live in Australia) I get the pcuser magazine where Darren Yates wrote an excellent piece of software PCUser DVD HD 2009 that converts all these movie into movies usable on the DVD player. I spent many hours converting all my movies successfully. That until until my son told me to go out and buy the cheapest DVD player I could find out of China and it will play all the movies he gave me. I went to Tandies\Dick Smiths & got a PALSONIC DVD2040 for $52 & bingo no more converting movies, I don't no how long this DVD play will last but it dose come with a years warranty so what the heck. Hope this helps Arthur South Oz 2009/5/28 Ron Chandler <maron@bigpond.net.au> > Hi to you all out there, can somebody help me, I have just bought a small > HD-DV camcorder which records and plays back OK on the camera itself but > when I transfer the film to the computer the playback on the computer is not > smooth flowing, the sound is OK but the film flows in a series of small > jumps.
