Hi Barry, I just had to do a re install of Vista Home Premium. Before I did this my Documents folder had a strange thing. When I opened a document or file I could not edit it until I went to file and clicked on "open for editing". This was a little annoying but I put up with it. Back to the re install. When I saved the document folder I thought everything was ok until I put it back on the computer after the re install. Now it still will not edit anything until I click on the "Open for editing" but the Problem is the "open for editing" does not light up so I can not use it, so I can not add anything to any file. Have I lost all my documents??????? Thank you for your help. Bob ____________________________________________________________ Turn any room into a work of art. Strange problem but is it only files in the folder you transferred back to the new install that are doing this ? If so then it's the folder itself that's at fault so try copying the files inside to a newly created folder and see if you can open them normally from there. Also, what are you using to open/edit these documents ( i.e. is this a word processor or graphics file ? ). -- Best regards, Barry mailto:barry@yobunny.co.uk MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 9.04 'Jaunty'
