Appears this is a registry error and you may be able to use System Restore to roll back to a time before this problem started. If not then the only recourse is to add back the missing registry key as detailed below ... Start REGEDIT ( type REGEDIT into the search box above the start button and you'll see it in the search results window ) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ You'll probably find that the key msiserver is missing, or if it's there it contains the wrong information. If it's not there, create an Expandable String Value by clicking on the 'New' menu option and entered the following location for it.. "\Windows\System32\msiexec.exe /V" If it is there, check that the above information is in it. Now try the install of Windows Live and see if it works, should do without needing a re-boot but always worth doing this if it doesn't just in case the new entry needs to be re-read on boot.
