    1. Re: [SR-NEWBIE] AOL 9.0 security edition - Bev
    2. Bev, thanks a lot for the offer; I do have a CD - in fact several, which include 9.0 optimized and the security edition 9.0, but when I installed either of these in the past I think the next [current] version ended up on my computer. Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that when I installed the Optimized version I found that the Security Edition showed up. How this happens is beyond me - I am almost afraid to install from a CD for fear I would end up with worse than what I have now. I don't know what this laptop is but it doesn''t have any tabs and across the top it only has New, Old, Manage Mail, Search Mail, Mail Options and up above to the right is shows Mail Settings. It just seems such a clean spread compared to the big AOL with the ads, etc. Maybe the ads are necessary - I shouldn't complain for it is *free* and I suppose I just have to get used to it. I must thank a few other persons for their suggestions as to where to download what I asked for but all the big unnecessary "stuff" ended up on the computer despite installing those versions - in fact I installed a couple of versions and they are just filled with ads and stuff to play with, one was with Twitter, another something else. When I get ready to ditch my desktop I will try the CDs and see what happens. Right now we are down to a laptop and my husband's desktop: My non-working desktop was beeping and I tried to shut it up [during the night] and though I was successful, it just won't do anything now. After searching for a way to repair the problem it seems that the motherboard is cursed. It is at least 7 years old and if I can find an XP either reconditioned or new [someone said to call Dell for a new one with XP OS] that may be what I will do. I guess you can't teach some old dogs new tricks (that's me) Thanks again for your consideration Virgene in IN I have an AOL 9.0 optimized CD if you want it. Is there a difference between that and AOL 9.0 security edition? Send my your snail mail address & I will send it to you.
