Hi, Carol- I'm assuming you went here: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Miscellaneous/SENIOR-NEWBIE.h tml ...And then clicked the link to subscribe to SENIOR-NEWBIE-L? I did that just to see whether anything was wrong with the link and it worked fine for me. It popped up my email form so that I could subscribe. The message you received would indicate that for some reason the link couldn't be associated with your email program and couldn't bring up a box automatically. I don't know enough about gmail to help you resolve the problem but I'm just trying to clarify that these are the steps you were following to subscribe. Thanks! When I went to Rootsweb to find this List I clicked on the adress to join (as I have always done on Rootsweb Lists) and instead of the email form appearing I got a message box saying "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed".
