Touchpad: I bought a mouse for my laptop & use that instead of the pad. I didn't disable anything. (I also have a desktop.) Bev Carlson of Minnesota. Today's Topics: > > 1. I would like to disable the touchpad on the laptop. My cursor jumps all over the screen. While typing, the cursor will jump to the top or bottom of the screen or beginning of the sentence. The touchpad and mouse seem to cancel each other out. I think simply disabling the touchpad would solve the conflicts. I have contacted Gateway, Logictech and Windows. No one seems to have a solution. Windows says it is not a Windows problem, Gateway says contact Logictec and Logictec says contact Gateway. This problem is taking all the fun out of using my computer. I am not comfortable using the touchpad and would prefer using the mouse. Thanks in advance for any help offer. > Donna > > > > > ------------------------------ > > Message: 2 > Date: Tue, 7 Sep 2010 18:43:02 -0700 (PDT) > From: Peggy Tischhauser <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [SR-NEWBIE] Disable Touchpad Hi Donna, I have a Gateway NV54 and use a mouse without disengaging anything; however, try going to Control Panel, Mouse, Device Settings, and tick the Disable if it shows your touchpad. > > HTH, > Peggy > > > --- On Tue, 9/7/10, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: > > From: [email protected] <[email protected]> > Subject: [SR-NEWBIE] Disable Touchpad > To: [email protected] > Date: Tuesday, September 7, 2010, 6:19 PM I am using Windows 7 on a Gateway NV59 laptop with a Logictec mouse.? Hello Bev, Thursday, September 9, 2010, 2:56:45 AM, you wrote: BC> I bought a mouse for my laptop & use that instead of the pad. I BC> didn't disable anything. Unfortunately different makes of laptop are vastly different in the way the handle the touch pad - some have a button to disable when typing and personally I think that's the better overall solution as those who prefer a proper mouse can permanently turn off the touch pad with the press of a button. In Donna's case the maker isn't as 'touch pad friendly' but often you don't get to find that out until you've bought the thing, and since it's not actually faulty it's not a reason to reject it :-( Hopefully Donna can find the magic setting to turn it off or it's going to mean surgery to disconnect inside and that's a whole new ball game - not to mention voiding warranties !!! -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid' 64bit
