Hi Donna, I have a Gateway NV54 and use a mouse without disengaging anything; however, try going to Control Panel, Mouse, Device Settings, and tick the Disable if it shows your touchpad. I would like to disable the touchpad on the laptop. My cursor jumps all over the screen. While typing, the cursor will jump to the top or bottom of the screen or beginning of the sentence. The touchpad and mouse seem to cancel each other out. I think simply disabling the touchpad would solve the conflicts. I have contacted Gateway, Logictech and Windows. No one seems to have a solution. Windows says it is not a Windows problem, Gateway says contact Logictec and Logictec says contact Gateway. This problem is taking all the fun out of using my computer. I am not comfortable using the touchpad and would prefer using the mouse. Thanks in advance for any help offer.
