    1. [SR-NEWBIE] Disable Touchpad
    2. I am using Windows 7 on a Gateway NV59 laptop with a Logictec mouse. I would like to disable the touchpad on the laptop. My cursor jumps all over the screen. While typing, the cursor will jump to the top or bottom of the screen or beginning of the sentence. The touchpad and mouse seem to cancel each other out. I think simply disabling the touchpad would solve the conflicts. I have contacted Gateway, Logictech and Windows. No one seems to have a solution. Windows says it is not a Windows problem, Gateway says contact Logictec and Logictec says contact Gateway. This problem is taking all the fun out of using my computer. I am not comfortable using the touchpad and would prefer using the mouse. Thanks in advance for any help offer. Donna

You'd think that Gateway support would know to direct their customer to the settings in control panel !! What you need to do is go to the mouse settings as suggested by Peggy and click on the 'Synaptic' tab to find the section that can disable the touch pad completely or change the settings to make it more user-friendly. I've seen many of these set to be far too sensitive so the lightest touch is taken as a movement or click. Reducing sensitivity helps a lot !! There's often a section for palm sensitivity too so that resting on the pad is ignored. -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid' 64bit
