    1. Re: [SR-NEWBIE] Barry and laptops
    2. Barry, I have always thought one was paying for the Sony name and not much more quality than some others. However, my daughter recently bought a Sony laptop...like the people you spoke of she switched from a desktop and has been urging me to think about that too. She loves the Sony. Can you tell me if there are any disadvantages to a laptop, especially when using it for genealogy which needs a lot of space. I guess when it is a much smaller machine, the tendency is to think it holds less, but I'm sure that is a fallacy. It has many advantages, in that it can be carried and used anywhere, such as at the genealogy library, etc. What is the largest screen it can have? My desk top is pretty old and I am going to have to do something about it before long. I've always been happy with it, but can't tell you what kind it is, since my grandson, a techie hobbiest built it from scratch several years ago and always fixes any problem Grama has. 3. Patricia, I don't know much about computers, but I do have a laptop and love it. But, whenever I get another one I will get one with the battery on the outside because then they don't get so hot. My neice has one like that and just loves it..........mine gets pretty warm at times.
