I v. recently replaced my desktop (W XP Pro) w/ a laptop (W7 Home Premium 64 bit). Desktop video card had outputs for both DVI and VGA connections. So the Q is how can I add a second monitor to the laptop. The issue is that I wish to do searches (genealogy is a passion) using one monitor and enter data using the other while search results are up. There are spare USB connects on the laptop. An aside, There is a short learning curve w/ W7, so far I like it (still glad I skipped W Vista) but the greater learning curve is the switch to a laptop. Can't do my own tweaking inside the box, multiple HDs, swap video cards, etc. Also find viewing does not have the options that desktop did for these tired old eyes. TIA Bob Morrow

Laptops have an output for external monitor / projector and this is usually VGA ( you can tell as it's a blue socket ). Also Window 7 has very good support for dual monitors built-in so just plug one in and see what happens <lol> -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid' 64bit
