    1. [SR-NEWBIE] Trouble With Zlob Trojan
    2. Hello Folks, I'm having a problem with an alleged trojan on my computer. I ran my Spybot S & D program this morning and it froze up for about a half hour on a file called; Zlob Downloader.bs When the scan was finally finished, it didn't show up in the window where spyware is normally listed. I googled the term and read several links about the severity of it and how hard it is to get rid of. I also ran my AVG program and my MalwareBytes program but it didn't show up with either of those. I read about a program HJT (High Jack This) on a forum discussing this particular trojan, so I downloaded it and scanned my files, but unfortunately I don't see anything in the list that looks suspicious and a warning on the HJT interface says not to delete anything unless you know what you're doing -- which I don't. Can anyone tell me why it's not showing up and how to get rid of it? Thanks for your help, Marilyn

    1. Re: [SR-NEWBIE] Archiving Email messages
    2. In Outlook Express (OE), for archiving, what I do is move certain e-mails and old mail out of the "IN" folder to other OE folders. 1. Create new folders with the title of a sender that sends a lot of mail, such as "John Smith". 2. With the "IN" folder open and all "in" mail listed, click on the top of the "From" column to alphabetize it. That places all "John Smith" e-mail together. 3. Highlight older files from "John Smith", and then drag the highlighted e-mails to the John Smith folder. 4. Repeat process for other high volume senders. 5. Make a general folder for "old mail". NOTE: It's good to keep the "In" folder size small, as a small folder has less chance for becoming corrupted. ------------------------------ Backing up in Outlook Express: NOTE: OE keeps all of its e-mail in DBX files. For example, the Inbox folder is kept in the Inbox.dbx file, and the Sent Items is kept ins Sent Items.dbx, etc. NOTE: The best way to simplify back up is to have OE store its DBX files in "My Documents", and then when "My Documents" is backed up, OE is backed up. OE's "Help" tells how to do this, but it should be done before any mail is saved, or mail in the old location is ignored. To back up the dbx files, 1. First prepare your backup external hard drive, flash drive, or temporary folder for creating a CD by creating a folder in it with a name such as "OE back up dbx files". 2. Do a search on C drive for ".dbx". The result shows all files on C drive with a .dbx extension, which are all of your OE's dbx files. Highlight those files, copy, and then paste to your backup folder. There are other ways to back up OE. To find those ways, Google on the following terms, with quotation marks as shown within the brackets: [ "backing up" "outlook express" ] Woody ============================ _wfleet@zitomedia.net_ (mailto:wfleet@zitomedia.net) writes: Would someone please give me a step by step on how to archive email messages using Outlook Express. Also the "open for editing" was not lite up either. I did transfer both folders and files when I did the re install. The folders are the same, if I open the folder and then open the files inside it is still the same. I can not edit them. What was this before I did the re install that I had to "open for editing" on every file that I had in "Documents". 3. I know there must be a reason why my computer remembers, and pops up for my convenience, passwords for various sites--but really I don't care Why, I just wonder how I can make it happen for ALL the sites I want it to happen on! I do have all the pop-up blockers, bells and whistles for viruses, etc. Is that just one of the downsides of having all that? I have way too many password variations, and am always having to look them up. Just a minor annoyance, but still......if there is a quick way to get around it, I'd do it. It just seems so capricious, how it works for some sites and not for others, even if I check boxes that say, "remember my password," or "let me stay on here for two weeks". 1. [SR-NEWBIE] Documents
    2. Hi Barry, I just had to do a re install of Vista Home Premium. Before I did this my Documents folder had a strange thing. When I opened a document or file I could not edit it until I went to file and clicked on "open for editing". This was a little annoying but I put up with it. Back to the re install. When I saved the document folder I thought everything was ok until I put it back on the computer after the re install. Now it still will not edit anything until I click on the "Open for editing" but the Problem is the "open for editing" does not light up so I can not use it, so I can not add anything to any file. Have I lost all my documents??????? Thank you for your help. Bob ____________________________________________________________ Turn any room into a work of art.
