    1. [SR-NEWBIE] File download stuck
    2. I was downloading a picture from an email and I don't know what happened but it seems to be stuck somehow. I can't download it or any others. It keeps saying "You cannot start a download while a file transfer is already in progress. Please wait until the current transfer is complete and then try again." I have been waiting for 2 days, have turned off the computer, and even restored the system to an earlier date, but it is still the same. Went to Task Manager and it does not show FF running so I can't end it. Download Manager shows this picture being downloaded but it doesn't seem to do anything--at least, it keeps saying it is in progress. Can someone tell me how to end this so I can download the pictures I want to? I would appreciate any help. Thank you. </HTML>

    1. [SR-NEWBIE] Barry and laptops
    2. I have always had Sony products but I would never buy another sony computer. Mine was the top of the line and came with a year service guarantee but the service you get was horrible. The reason I got it was because they had a fantastic program click to DVD that didn't always work. And I knew I would need the year service. On Tvs, cameras etc that I own the service was quick and excellent so I didn't mind paying the etc for the sony. Everyone that I know says its just paying for the Sony name. On the other hand my coz bought an acer and she said that they gave her excellent service since the machine broke down 3 times in 4 months. But I dont think I need that.

    2. Hiiiiiiii Fran and Vanda Thanks for trying to help me. I have a few old wooden antigue Drawers that I have put a board on and my 22 inch monter on top 2 and a half feet from my eyes. and the space underneath holds really important stuff that I have no clue what it is. I have an old working lap top upstairs that works well that I never use and I really want a desktop with lots of ram etc. So if I got a lap top with lots of ram I would have to attach my mouse keyboard and monitor to it to be able to be comfortable. Also I had a wireless mouse but I had to go back to a reg one because the wireless kept escaping and I could never find it. I need a mouse that has a leash on it. Thanks again Ema

    3. Patricia, I don't know much about computers, but I do have a laptop and love it. But, whenever I get another one I will get one with the battery on the outside because then they don't get so hot. My neice has one like that and just loves it..........mine gets pretty warm at times. 2. Ema, if you have a laptop or are interested in purchasing one you can use a separate keyboard (wireless), plug it into your laptop, and that way you can place your monitor anywhere you want. I have mine set up this way and the keyboard I have was purchased for about $20.00 - which may have been a sale price. In any case a wireless keyboard is not expensive: The brand of keyboard I have is Logitech. Hope this helps Virgene ****************************************************** Someone wrote me off line and told me to try Cosco. I had 98 windows and loved it but I really killed it off. I hate the keyboard on the lap top plus I like the monitor 6 inches higher on the table and I hate the keyboard. If I am let loose in a store without having a model no etc written down I will wind up with the most expensive thing which I dont really need. I am happy to hear the emachine is good. Thanks again for the help If you have anymore I would love to know Ema

    2. Hi Keith .... Doris ..... Barry.... Thank you all for the good advice. I pulled a usb thumb drive out of the viao and I was so happy it came back to life. THen I closed it and it died again. I bought air and took the side off but besides getting a lovely dust bath I dont even know if I got it clean I live in New York which is the best place to get ripped off in the world. The bigger the company the bigger the thieves so I really need to be armed with the exact info when I am buying something. If anybody ever visited New York and bought any electronics you will know what I am talking about. Otherwise it just sounds like I am being paranoid which I am without even trying. Someone wrote me off line and told me to try Cosco. I had 98 windows and loved it but I really killed it off. Thanks again for the help If you have anymore I would love to know Ema I had an E machine and used it for 12 years. Wished some times I would have kept using it it never did give me any problems. Keith Ema, I've had a Gateway Desktop 98SE for many years..........needs work now, but I love it. I believe the e-machines are made by Gateway, but I could be wrong about that, and I'm sure somebody will correct that for me if I am. I now have an HP Laptop which I also love. My neice has an HP desktop and Laptop and loves them both. I've heard lots of negative stuff about the Dell, and especially their help desk techies. But, I guess it's really just anybody's guess about which one is best. And as you probably already know, we can get good and bad no matter what we buy.......in computers or anything else. I looked through the list and could not find any reference to Work Offline being true or false. I also want to clarify that work offline bug was from a previous version of firefox and when I installed FF beta-1, the bug came in also. I have had problems with the WorkOffline bug for a couple of months. I got rid of it once, but when my computer crashed and I reloaded fire fox the bug came back. First of all this is a Beta and a Beta 1 too so there's bound to be bugs in it - that's the reason they put out Beta versions, for users to help bug fix. Overall, if you aren't going to be able to help in bug fixing and can't afford the possibility of some bug trashing your system ( yes that *can* happen ) then it's a good idea to keep away from Beta versions !! OK, first thing to verify is what make and model number of PC this is to determine if you'll need a special PSU or a generic one. However, once you have the new one then replacing is just a case of unplugging the connectors to the system ( motherboard, HD, CDROM ) and undoing the 4 screws that hold the PSU box in place then taking it out. The new one goes in the space vacated and all the plugs will only to the sockets they should go to so you can't fit the wrong one in or even the wrong way around. It would be worth opening up the case and looking inside anyway to check out what I mean regarding those plugs and the overall layout. Also you can check for dust build up too and if you can take a photo of the insides and send it to me that would be great ( to my e-mail address in the signature line, not to the list ). A picture really is worth a thousand words <lol> No need to reduce it in size too unless it's very large as my mail box can handle large images. -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 9.10'Karmic'
