Rana, Another consideration for those who may not have any version of Word is to save the file in RTF format. That will open in anyone's word processor. Another universal format is PDF. You can't convert the file to PDF on Word 2007 (I think), but you can convert it online free at this web site: http://www.pdfonline.com/ Woody ============== [email protected] writes: Rana- There is nothing wrong with writing/creating a document in Word 2007 (.docx) format. Also, there are so many WEST men named James in this lineage that we make it a habit to identify our James by the range of birth years, 1760-1770 (to date we have no document that provides exact birth date, so we use the results from analysis of the census records): James (1760-1770) is the consistent way we guarantee the reader will know the James we reference. Nancy I have never dealt with Paypal, and some time ago I routinely received notices like that. I've never dealt with eBay either. In those cases I could be assured that the e-mail was a phishing thing. Sometimes one can determine whether the page is a phishing job is is to place your cursor over the "cancel" (but do not click) or other action links. On my WinXP and IE Browser, placing the cursor over a button, blued name, or blued link would cause the name of the ACTUAL or true link to appear at the bottom of the window or screen. The link disclosed at the bottom of the screen or window was often different or incompatible with the button or link one was to click on. But sometimes the above doesn't work. One can also place the cursor over the suspect button, blued name, blued link, or photo and and right click, and then click on "properties". That will reveal the true URL for that button, blued name, blued link, or photo. I don't know the answer to your question about Paypal. I checked and found that there is a domain name for a legit outfit at http://www.creative.com, so the [email protected] could be a ligit address. MIght contact the people on the http://www.creative.com and ask for advice. Thanks Woody, I am pretty sure this is a phishing thing. It is impossible to contact creative.com It seems to be a retail outlet for electronic things. The contact us goes around and around in circles. I did fianlly get to where I could type a message but then was not allowed to send it. It requested I choose a subject, but no matter what I selected, I could not send the message. I will contact the credit card companies so they will not allow this charge. I haven't dealt with e-bay, but I have dealt with Amazon.com and that seems to be where this came from. Too bad! Somethings are only available from Amazon. The Cancel Transaction button is in blue, but you cannot click on it. Thank you, Cora for responding. I downloaded ver.9.3.3 yesterday evening and installed it this morning. I then went to the Adobe file and clicked to always open it in Adobe Reader. It worked ok then. I have had no problems with any file that I used it on. Lloyd, May I ask why you are trying to use such an old, insecure version of Adobe Reader? The current version is 9.3.3. There are patches even for it about once a month to fix an insecurity! Here are the system requirements for Windows OS: Windows Intel® 1.3 GHz processor or equivalent Microsoft® Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 4, Windows Server® 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2; Windows XP® Professional, Home Edition, or Tablet PC Edition with Service Pack 2 or 3 (32-bit and 64-bit); Windows Vista® Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise Service Pack 1 or 2 (32-bit and 64-bit), Microsoft Windows 7 Starter, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise (32-bit and 64-bit) 128MB of RAM (256MB recommended) 335MB of available hard disk space (additional space required for installation) Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, 6.0 with Service Pack 1, 7.0 or 8.0, Firefox 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 or 3.6 If you download this it is about 50 MB so would take a while even on broadband, and longer with dialup. I suspect if you have tried this and Foxit without success, there may be something wrong with the file on the other end (the store). Are you POSITIVE it is a .pdf file you are trying to download. Are you trying to download or having it open on the web site, then trying to save it to your computer, then open? Surely the store site has a means of "support" for problems with their web site -- you may have to resort to contacting them......... Cora I just installed Adobe Reader and am trying to download a printable PDF version of a statement from a Department Store online but after a couple of minutes of doing nothing the done message showes up in the lower left corner of the screen. I have tried it with both Firefox and IE with the same results. I have been using Foxit Reader, but I would get an error message every time I tried to download the PDF statement, so I uninstalled it and installed Adobe Reader. Can someone tell me how to get Firefox and IE to reconize Adobe Reader as the default PDF Reader? Lloyd

Usually you are given the option to download or open any PDF file you find online. Click on download and then open AR and open the file within the program after you download it.
