re: email messages back to the IN folder. I am using gmail. Across the top of gmail are several slots...archive, report spam, delete, move to, LABELS, more actions... I label everything that I wish to keep. An example is GENEALOGY. So all my emails that appear to be related to genealogy is automatically labeled genealogy. Another label is 'howto-Geek. It makes it easier to know which are the emails to read first. Does this help? Bev Carlson of Minnesota On Sat, Nov 13, 2010 at 2:02 AM, <[email protected]> wrote: > > Today's Topics: > > 1. I have these go to folders so that when I am out of town my IN box doesn't get filled up. Sometimes I want to move one Back to the IN box, and can't figure out how to do that--i.e., I want them to come in permanently to the IN box now. In Outlook Express, when I go through the same steps that I did to get it into the folder in the first place, I am not allowed to do the final Click to make that happen. I go to Messages, Create Message Rules, Where the From Line Contains, Move to Specified Folder...................but am not allowed to click OK. Can anyone tell me how to get the emails back to the In box? Thanks! Nancy

There's no way of pinning a link to that list that I know of, it's purely a list of the last number of documents opened. If you want a permanent link to a particular document then you'll need to create it on the desktop and then drag to the start button where you can then Right Click and select 'Pin to Start Menu'. When you no longer wish to have that link then it can be deleted after first 'un-pinning' from the Start Menu. -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid' 64bit
Hi all, AOLers may have reason to be concerned about failing to receive their Rootsweb mail in the future. On another Rootsweb mail list, AOL is presently not accepting mail from Rootsweb. I sent this same message from my [email protected] address to see if it would go through OK. So far it has not. If this does and the one from my AOL address doesn't, we AOLers have serious problems with AoL. I've written "AOL Help" to notify them of the situation. Woody

Keeping e-mails in folders is actually a very good idea, as is keeping the Inbox itself as empty a possible. There's no need to move a message back to the Inbox to be able to access it or reply etc, you can do everything you need from within the folder that its been filtered into. Personally I'd say you have things set up correctly as it is and not 'fix' an unbroken scheme <lol> Was there any reason for wanting to have messages clogging up your Inbox again ?? -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid' 64bit
Using Windows XP home sp3 and MS Office 2000. When I click on Start at the bottom left, a list of things opens. One of them is Documents. Clicking on that opens a list of about 20 of the last documents I have opened. Sometimes there are things in there that I don't want to keep - such as the index on a CD, or something I just looked at out of curiosity. Is there a way to remove them from that list? Is there a way to keep a document on that list even though it is not one of the last 20 documents I have opened? The documents are in alphabetical order so I don't know where the documents are by age. Nancy in Louisiana
Barry, there are a few store emails that come not as often as others that I am particularly interested in. As much as I say that I will check my SHOPPING folder everyday, I just don't get to it (can I tell you about my TODAY file of emails I want to address quickly and how some of them are years old?! You see how well That's working for me :) Anyway, I want them to blare out at me in my IN folder so I don't miss them. E.g., I have a bead source that will occasionally have the very beads on sale that I have been waiting for--and I don't see it! I promise I won't clog up my In box! but I very much want to get a few of them back over there. Nancy
Thank you, Mary! and now for my next question.............lawsy, is there any way to quickly tell which rule it is without opening 275 of them?!! nancy > If you want all future message you receive to go to the In box instead of > the folder, just delete the rule you > created to get them to the folder.

If you just want to move one message from the folder to the In Box, open the message, click on file, click on move to In box and OK. If you want all future message you receive to go to the In box instead of the folder, just delete the rule you created to get them to the folder. Hi All, I get a ton of email related to genealogy and also store sale emails. I have these go to folders so that when I am out of town my IN box doesn't get filled up. When it comes to re-sizing photo's there are two things to look at - number of pixels and the physical file size. The two are related but it's possible to meet a specification regarding pixels and still have too large a file for the system to cope with. You need to know the file size limits too and these vary according to where they are being sent. -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid' 64bit

Java is part of how web sites are displayed and without it you'd not get the web site to work correctly. So yes you do need Java but the user only needs part of it - there's no need to install the whole of Java which allows you to create Java sites. So what the end user gets is the Java Runtime Environment which is just enough to allow web pages to work but leaves out all the bits related to creating Java fancy bits. It's probably the Java update manager that's requesting permission to go check for updates and/or install them. Updates are needed as they fix security issues ( in the same way that Windows Updates do ) and also add new functionality. R> Do I need changes to our computer that frequently, once or twice R> daily? Do I need Java? It will keep nagging until you let it do its job so let it through and you'll not be bugged by it until the next update is released. These vary in frequency so you might get a couple in a week then nothing for a couple of months. BTW - the same applies to Flash. It's part of web sites and without it you don't get the whole web site working as it was designed to work. -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid' 64bit
When I upload photos to a public file, they are hugh--too large for the page. I have resized them twice and they look great on my computer file, but are still too large for the public page. Can someone tell my what the cause is and how to remedy it?</HTML>
Patricia, these are the web sights we found and from which we selected the boxes in sizes we need. IMO the shipping costs are high. For our research documents, we need a large number of boxes, well, large for us, about twenty. I am now going to contact professional furniture/household goods movers to see what they might have to offer. If I find such a place that one can go to directly or pay simple postal costs, I will post to the list. BTW: I tried several professional photographers from two nearby cites in our area, and the cost of one box of the size we need, is triple the cost of the box and its shipping costs that we ordered online. First of all, Barry, many thanks for the update link to 10.1, Dragon. So far, it seems to be working and the license key was adequate for the download. Many thanks for your time and information. Now, here is our next dilemma: Does one need Java on one's computer? I have googled Java but most of the sites I have found are far too technical for my limited understanding. With this new computer, a minimum of twice daily, the Java icon pops up and flashes until I respond. The icon question is asking permission for making changes to our computer. Do I need changes to our computer that frequently, once or twice daily? Do I need Java? Please advise. TIA Rana

Sounds like the sender hasn't attached these correctly or if in a zip file the original image hasn't been added correctly, possibly what you have is just a link to the file on the sender's PC - which would only work on their system. 43 pictures is a lot to send by e-mail too, unless they've been reduced in size. May help to send in smaller batches. -- Best regards, Barry mailto:[email protected] MicroSoft Free Zone running Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid' 64bit
Someone sent me a zipped file of 43 tombstone photos, and some of them were fine, but quite a few are completely blank. They show the FF icon but when opened are blank. Does anyone have suggestions as to why and how to correct this, before I ask the sender to try again? Thank you. </HTML>

Yesterday, installed Dragon v10 with no problem. Today, whenever one of us turns on new computer a message appears from Dragon Naturally Speaking: "Cannot find multimedia device. Check to see if your computer has a sound card or if the multimedia wave-in component is missing from the sound card". We play videos, watch movies, hear music using this computer, so it seems we must have sound card; however, when I typed into search: wave-in component, a barrage of places showed up that we should search with advanced search skills (advanced users). Those kinds of skills we do not have. Please advise? OS: Windows7 Home Premium TIA Rick Powell
