Could someone give me an idea what is a reasonable type of scanner & digital camera to buy. Thanks Garth
In Windows XP just select the picture you wish to send, then on the left side you will see -- Email this file-- click on this then choose the small size to send, and picture will appear in an email form as an attachment, but also in the body of the email when it arrives. All you have to do is enter the address. I find if you have pets (Dogs or Cats) the build up around the vents can be daunting, no matter how clean you are. A good clean once a month does the world of good both to monitor and computer. BUT remember not to open or prod things into that monitor the power build up is enough to kill you. even when the monitor has been turned off for hours? I can be a variety of things that could cause this as has been indicated by the variety of answers (all valid possibilities) that have been posted to the list. Thanks Garth Hi Garth, I have a printer - HP psc 2210 all in one. It is a printer, a fax, a copy machine, and a scanner and I love it. It also has slots for the various storage discs/sticks for many of the digital cameras and you can print directly from those storage devices. It also prints a proof sheet from the digital camera disc. I can then just darken in the little slot on any of the pictures I want - scan that back into the printer and it will then print only those I selected. It is terrific. Take care - Emma

Monitors may flicker because of electrical interference from some other electronic device nearby like a TV or another monitor. In one case, I had a monitor flicker because of a failing video card that I replaced to fix the problem. If you can try another monitor, this test will confirm whether the problem is with the monitor or the video card. If it is the monitor that is causing the flickering, it is unlikely to be cost effective to fix it as they are easily replaced and much cheaper than they were 5 years ago. To send email messages to this list, you must format your email messages as 'plain text' which does not support included clip art except as an attachment. If you wish to send included clip art, you can format your email messages as 'HTML'. How you include clip art will depend on which email program you use. All the clip art I have been downloading for a while are going in to My Documents/My Pictures as before but instead of a picture showing all I see are squares. If I hover my mouse over one of these squares I can tell which one it is but I cannot incorporate it as I used to do in to the body of my E-mail. The only way I seem able to get it out of there is by choosing "send to" from the drop down menu but it goes as an attachment. I was playing a solitaire game...and, in the "start" bar at the bottom of my monitor... the bar that shows what's on the screen (and is normally light blue, or dark blue...the active one) is flashing orange.... What does that mean? Is it something I should worry about? I know I asked about this before, but I can't find the paper that had the answer, that I printed out... Thanks much, PAX NancyT
Insert Picture in Email Q: How do I add a picture to an email (not as an attachment)? A: First, you should make your picture a manageable size. More info on this can be found in our online Email Picture Guide... http://www.worldstart.com/guides/emailpict.htm Here's how to insert pictures with Outlook Express (Netscape Mail info is below) 1. First, Create a new message and make sure that you have Format set to "Rich Text (HTML)". From the Insert menu, select Picture. 2. A screen will come up that allows you to browse to the picture's location on your hard drive. 3. Find your picture, hit OK, and you're all set. Note that you can set a few other options before you hit OK. Here's a quick rundown: Alternate Text - This will be displayed in place of the picture if the recipient's e-mail client is not able to, or not set to, display pictures. Under Layout - Alignment - This lets you set your text wrapping. For example, if you set it to Left, the image should appear on the left of the message with your text wrapping around to the right. It's actually kinda cool. Border Thickness - If you would like to have a border around your image, set the thickness using this box. The units are in pixels, so 2 or 3 is usually a good size. Under Spacing - Your horizontal and vertical spacing sets the distance the text is from the image. By default, there is some space, but you can increase that area by entering values (pixels) into these two boxes. Here's how to insert pictures with Netscape 7.0 Mail: First, start a new message by clicking Compose, click in the message area, then from the Insert menu, select Image. You will notice several tabs that allow you to select and fine-tune the picture: Location - this is where you choose your file from your hard drive. You can also type in an Alternate text that will be displayed if the image cannot be viewed in the recipient's browser. Dimensions - Here you can set the width & height of the image or leave it actual size. This shouldn't be necessary if you sized it in your imaging software first. If you do use it, keep the Constrain box checked to insure the picture remains proportional. Appearance - here you select your horizontal and vertical spacing to set the distance text is from the image. By default, there is some space, but you can increase that area by entering values (pixels) into these boxes. If you would like a border around the image, put a value in the Solid Border box (in pixels). Usually 2 or 3 is good. You can also Align the text to the image and use text wrapping. That's the main stuff. There are some other options you may want to explore, but this should get you started. Final Notes - If you are using an e-mail client other than Outlook or Netscape you'll find that most of the information above probably still applies. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jessie Newlands" <newlands@telus.net> To: <SENIOR-NEWBIE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 08, 2005 9:29 PM Subject: [SR-NEWBIE] re: clip art > Hi again - I asked this a few days ago but haven't found an answer to my problem and wonder if anyone could throw some light on this for me.
