    2. The .dll is for zone alarm. They had an update and I downloaded it and when I went to install it that is when it said I had a missing vsutil.dll. I got the missing .dll from Microsoft. I do not know where it belongs. I downloaded it to my desktop and when I went to open it that is when it brought up "Open with". I will have to go back to microsoft and see if they said anything about it. 2. I have a .dll that I want to install and it brings up a window that asks you to open it with one of these programs and it has a list. They are all programs that are on my computer, like Internet Explorer, Micro Money and all the rest microsoft programs, notepad, adobe, etc. I have chosen each one and none of them work. Does this have to be set up and how?

    3. An interesting question, Nancy - What is a log file? Well, they are just text files. A log file is a file that keeps a running list of errors, notices, updates, and other system or network issues. It contains a date and time they occurred, and any other important information about the events in the log file. Each log file format is different from vendor to vendor. Log files can indicate the general health of a system or network. They can indicate any illegal or legal activity on a system or network if you have one. If you have a web site, a log file can be generated showing activity on your site. Log files can quickly accumulate data if left unchecked for the system and network. Many AV programs, firewall, backup programs generate log files of their activities. So, unless you need to keep "tabs" on that type of activity, they can be deleted without any detrimental effect, just like cookies or temp files. Lance P. S. Check out Legacy Family Tree today! 3. Yes, I read a bulletin on a newsletter yesterday mentioning this and just passed over it as I do not use their product. Apparently Trend Micro had a monumental "stuff-up" (to put it bluntly!) so they have had to write to all of their customers. If, as they say, you are experiencing no difficulties you need not do anything. If you are experiencing any problems follow the guidance in the last paragraph. Lance P. S. 3. Hi Peggy It sounds like you are having a few too many adventures in computing! Tip: Make a copy of the file you want to work on and work with the copy. Then your original is fine if something goes wrong, or if you change your mind about your changes. If you are 100% sure you have saved what you want, you can discard the original. Often saving the original file(photo, received document) is a good idea anyway. In Photoshop(my favorite program), I can save photos as a copy from the save as dialogue, so I don't have to do that. Not all programs work this way, so making a copy in advance is a very good idea. 1. RE: [SR-NEWBIE] Links folder under Favorites in IE.
    2. Lance
    3. The LINKS folder, Ruth contains the "links" which show in LINKS>>> on the top of the Internet Explorer page in the toolbar (just to the right of the "GO" button at the end of the address bar). This is a quick way of accessing frequently used sites. If you have placed any URL's in the LINKS folder, you will see the word "Links" on the toolbar followed by >>>. If the LINKS folder is empty there will be no >>> showing. Just use it for sites you visit regularly as it saves you accessing the FAVORITES and it's multitude of folders and URL's. You add sites to the LINKS folder just like you add them to any other folder in FAVORITES. Lance P. S. Check out Legacy Family Tree today! 1. RE: [SR-NEWBIE] Bulk (Junk) emails
    2. Lance
    3. Harold, if your Yahoo account is receiving that much spam, you do have a problem. I consider it a problem if I receive two or more a day through Yahoo mail! I think the simplest solution for you to do is abandon this account. Set up new accounts for the specific addresses you need, even using a different address for each specific purpose. DON'T use a name or any word in your address. I made the mistake with this GMail account of using my name. It is the only GMail account I receive the occasional spam on, and, also because I use this one for Roots Web lists (spammers love the lists at Roots Web!). Create an address using both alpha and numerical symbols. That tends to confuse the spam harvesters. It won't guarantee you won't get spam, but it certainly increases the odds a great deal. The other thing you can do is use Mailwasher PRO to examine your mail BEFORE you download it. Yes, I realize you are using Yahoo, but you can download Yahoo Mail into your email program using YPOPs http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/ YPOPs allows you POP3 access to your Yahoo mail and it's free. If you set up your Yahoo account in Mailwasher PRO, you can "train" it to prevent spam and other unwanted mail getting through: http://entier.ecosm.com/system/redir.php?ad=15&aid=2359 Do this after you create your new addresses, though. Of course, you can use GMail, too, which has excellent spam filters. The occasional spam I have received in this account is always picked up by GMail and shunted off into the Spam folder where they are deleted after 30 days (if I don't do it first!). The advantage of GMail over the other web mail services is that they now have 2 GB+ of storage - more than enough for the average user I would think. It also has excellent search facilities. Let me know off-list if you would like a GMail invitation. You can read about GMail here: http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/about.html Lance P. S. Check out Legacy Family Tree today! (rec'd 450 from Friday pm to Monday am) Other than deleting 25 at the time (I use Yahoo) over to trash, is there any quicker way to delete the entire file at one time. If I leave them in the trash bin, will it eventually be deleted by the system, if not what happens when the trash become overfull. I have the spam guard system turned on but this does not seem to help. Any suggestions other than deleting this address and changing to another url. Harold
