    3. One of the reasons you have not seen the AntiVirus message until recently may be that Microsoft just sent out a bunch of up-dates. Again, that may have changed the loading sequence. Is your AVG Antivirus working at all at any time? 3. AntiVirus not turned on? I also get this first thing as Windows and its accessory programs are first loading. (I use Norton AntiVirus.) In my case this is part of the Microsoft XP Security System. It is saying that because XP checks to see what security you have running. And if your AntiVirus has not completed loading, then XP gives you an error message. But if you check later (after the computer has finished loading), then your AntiVirus is active. Just a comment here. The first thing I do, after my computer is finished loading is I manually check for up-dates to my AntiVirus program. Always the very first thing before I check for messages!!! So, if I understood you correctly, the answer to the question you asked is just that one part of your computer is ahead of the rest. And I am not aware of you being able to specify the loading sequence of your system. So you did good by noticing the error and asking. But I suspect you are OK!!! 2. Recently when I turn on my computer in the a.m., I get a message saying my AVG email scanner is not activated. I go to the control panel and activate it, and it will say it is fully functional. It stays this way until I turn off the computer, but the next time I turn it on, it is not activated again. Can someone tell me why? Thanks. To all who responded: As I said above, this has just happened recently. I have had AVG for some time and have never gotten this message until about the last week. Yes, it is on my start-up menu, and it is also set up to update automatically. Thanks for the thoughts and the time.

    3. AVG should be activated as soon as you turn on your computer. I have mine set to automatically do a Boot_Up scan and then at a certain time every day it does and update and thorough virus scan. Can someone tell me why? Thanks. I can't really answer the question about AVG but I can tell you that most anti-virus programs cannot scan incoming email if that incoming email is AOL's email. AOL's email isn't actually downloaded to your computer unless you choose to save it to your computer and, therefore, most virus scans can't read it. AOL pre-scans all incoming mail and attachments for viruses with McAfee on their own servers. Joan
