    3. LINDA, thanks. WE know SAMUEL SELLERS was in 1790 EFFINGHAM CO, GA. ANY kids or grandkids BORN or MARRIED here? WHERE is OUR NEXT time frame? on his kids OR any SELLERS kids to EFF CO, GA? AND to next time frame? ON A CHART I see a dau of SAMUEL SELLERS 1775 = Cinderella SELLERS born 1808 EFF CO, GA HOW did they PROVE THIS.? SOME of our Records jump several years. HELP with ANY PROVEN info you/we have. I BELIEVE ZILPHA SELLERS wife of SAMUEL SELLERS died 1794 EFF CO, GA father was SAMUEL SELLERS per will of 1784 with dau ZILPHA SELLERS. I BELIEVE possible errors in earlier GA history of SAMUEL SELLERS died 1794 with father SAMUEL SELLERS. = Don't think PROVEN. AND this error may be continued on in some records? ==== MARRIAGE RECORDS OF SELLARS Samuel married Sellars, Zilpha 5-11-1767 42366 Duplin Bondsman= Jesse Sellers and ---- Merritt/Merrill === THIS RECORD does NOT show COUSINS or ANY RELATIONSHIP. DO YOU have more info??? ==== AND WE/I don't know WHO this JESSE SELLERS is OR where he went and who the MERRITT/MERRILL person is = who are close to our SELLERS here in DUPLIN/NEW HANOVER/SAMPSON CO, NC. YES, i have Heard the Cousins and very possible. ==== YES, I think I have seen DAR records = my goodness knows How they were proved or IF THEY WERE proven = they were Accepted by DAR. ==== I have seen SAMUEL SELLERS from NC listed in REV WAR Records = same as GA? NO pension or Bounty Land? died before that probably. I have seen SOLEMON SELLERS listed in GA ? REV WAR Records, I believe. DON'T KNOW who he is? OR if we have #'s on these files? ======= SAMUEL SELLERS land he sold in 1790 EFF, GA lays close to ALL these SELLERS. can't quite get TWO exact descriptions of land. Probably some divided off earlier? Very Closely connected to JACOB SELLERS. SAMUEL SELLERS had a brother ABRHAM SELLERS here in 1757 NC, which his kids would be cousins of each other. PLEASE understand my questions. I KNOW the GA info is hard to come by, but, perhaps, WE don't have ALL available? I see NO 1812 WAR OR 1835 CREEK WAR files posted. HELP where you can. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: Linda Davis [mailto:ldavis8@msn.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 6:21 AM To: Marie Sellers-Hollinger; SELLERS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: {not a subscriber} Re: Sellers in Appling County, Georgia Marie, I have Ziphilia's father's will from NC showing that she married a Sellers. DAR doesn't need this document according to my registrar. It does prove that the second cousins married. They were not first cousins as some say as both of their fathers were named Samuel. I have Samuel Sellers' patriot service record from NC. Got it at the National Archives last October. I have Samuel Sellers' will from Effingham County, GA listing his children: Samuel, Penelope (Staten), and my John. If there were other children, they did not live to adulthood to be named in the will. I don't need information on them to prove my line, but have reviewed other researchers' work on Sam and Penny. I have John Sellers and Jane Carter's marriage record from Bullock County. I have the 1820-40 census of Appling County...these do not name anyone except "John Sellers".....who gets younger instead of older in these census. In Appling County, Ga courthouse, the earliest will is 1854 or so, the earliest marriage record is 1869 and that is one record for that year, and rare land records are available prior to 1854. I have reviewed them. This was the first courthouse that I saw WhiteOut used to mark over lost wills in the old index book...it saves them time. The clerk does not look for wills and documents that they know are lost. I would have loved to seen the names and dates on that old index. Appling County was huge at one time...it includes Ware, Charlton, Piece and other counties...all these early records are lost in two fires. I have not gone to the Georgia Archives in Atlanta yet. That is on my list of things to do. The land that the Sellers owned western border was on Creek lands. There were no churches with Baptizing records or school in this frontier. There was a church named Ten Mile Church which was about 15 miles east from their land...I doubt they attended regular services/the earliest records are not early enough to prove what I need. In 1850 Jane Carter Sellers was living with her daughter Mrs. Dyal. I was hoping for a family Bible but there is not one. The census states my John Jr. did not read and write nor did his children...folks who do not read and write do not write in Bibles. After 1850, I have all the proof to me. There has been only one lady who joined DAR on the son John and it was done in the 1970's with the reference to the Huxford Wiregrass Books. DAR wants documentation now and Huxford does not list the documents..."John who married Kizzie was a nephew to Samuel" hence John Sr.'s son. There are DAR members well established thru Samuel Sellers, John's brother. This line is still living in Appling County on the same land for 8 generations. The Sellers Cemetery is mainly this line not mine. I have been in touch with this wonderful family but they only have documentation on their direct line. I am a member of DAR thru my father's line, but looking for a supplemental on my mother's side. NOW I kinda see your question. WE don't have these kids proven too good ! DO a TIME LINE on EACH CHILD = i am sure there are others we are missing, but, may find them in the area of the other kids? SAMUEL SELLERS from Duplin/Sampson Co, NC is proven to land in 1790? EFFINGHAM CO, GA probably same as died in 1794? with sons JOHN SAMUEL and dau PENELOPE, etc ==== SAMUEL SELLERS/ZIP SELLERS married 1767 DUPLIN CO, NC with kids born 1770/1775 NC probably has MORE kids born in NC before he sold his NC land in 1790? SOME TAX LISTS are listed = WHO/WHERE are they? Don't see PENELOPE'S AGE and place of birth here ? = 1797 = BULLUCH CO,GA and Follow thro 1800 and marriages, etc = NOW WHERE are we in 1800/1810 till 1820? LAND RECORDS = do we have/available? NEIGHBORS? = COUNTY MINTUES= WILLS of others= REV WAR records of who moved here with them?? 1812 WAR RECORDS are available and I don't see where ANYONE has sent info from records!! WE have some 1800/1830 LAND LOTTO? records available and SOME are posted = kinda hard to follow thro to the counties they came from and went to? WE NEED these families followed thro from 1800 to where they went, etc. 1835? CREEK WAR RECORDS are available and I don't see ALL of these! Would appreciate copy of the 1820/1830/1840 CENSUS on these families AND any earlier info on birth/marriages. THANKS for sharing and Understanding. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: linda davis [mailto:ldavis8@msn.com] Sent: Monday, September 22, 2003 6:54 AM To: SELLERS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: {not a subscriber} Sellers in Appling County, Georgia I am researching John Sellers in Appling County, Georgia. He first appears in the 1820 census, and then again in the 1830 census. He had married Jane Carter in Bullock County, Georgia in 1797. In 1840 John Sellers is a younger man with wife, children and an elderly man in his household. In 1850 John Sellers is enumerated with Kizzie from NC and a house full of children. An elderly Jane Sellers is enumerated in a Dyal's household in 1850. John's household is the same for the 1860 census. By 1870, John and Kizzie are in Charlton County, Georgia. By 1880, Kizzie is a widow with adult children living in her household in Charlton County. I am looking for documentation that John of the 1820 census is the father of the John of the 1840 and forward census. I am attempting to do a DAR application on Samuel Sellers, RS of NC. His will was probated in Effingham County, Georgia listing children as this John, Samuel, and Penelope (Staten). After two trips to Appling County courthouse which burnt in 1857 and again more recently, I can't document this relationship. I would appreciate any input on this matter. Thanks.
