Georgia, I was able to get a transcribed copy of Jerome Bruces Sellers' obit over this past weekend, which I'm including here for anyone interested in reading it. It contains answers to some of the questions I/we were searching for in terms of where the family went to in Iowa after leaving Virginia along with when Samuel Howard Sellers took the family from Iowa to South Dakota. Daily Republic, Mitchell, SD, March 9, 1982 Bruce Sellers Mt.Vernon - Funeral services for Jerome Bruce Sellers, 85, will be Wednesday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Mt.Vernon. Burial will be in the Mt.Vernon cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Mr. Sellers died at Mt. Vernon March 7. He was born March 4, 1897 in Winterset, Iowa to Samuel Howard and Clara May Sellers. In 1910 he came to Mt.Vernon where he had since resided. In May 1930 he married Eva Dunham. She died in 1965. In 1968 he married Evelyn Patterson. He cared for his father until his death in 1940 and for his mother-in-law, Mrs. Dunham, until her death a few years later. He was of tender disposition and loved his family and friends. During World War I he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Mt. Vernon, the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Mt.Vernon American Legion. Survivors include his widow; three sisters, Mary Johnson, Madison; Leona Hartman, Hot Springs; and Lucile Svoboda, Clarendon Hills, IL; and several nieces. Sellers in 1930 Davison County, South Dakota census. 1930 Davison County, South Dakota Mount Vernon Township, District 13 enumerated on April 17, 1930 HH#24 Samuel H. Sellers, head, M, W, 65, widowed, age of first marriage age 29, VA, VA, VA; J. Bruce Sellers, son, M, W, 33, married age 33, IA, VA, IA (so in 1897 Samuel was in Iowa; need to try 1900 Iowa which is not indexed) farmer; Eva Sellers, daughter-in-law, 36, marriaged age 36; IL, IL, IL The name was difficult to read so the search engine does not pick up the Sellers name. Sellen might pick it up. Georgia
