Georgia, I was able to find Jacob on the 1870 Augusta County, Virginia, Census. Last name was spelled as "Shiry". 1870 Augusta County, Mount Sidney Post Office, Virginia Page 91, Line #27, Dwelling #635, Family #634 Jacob Shiry, W, M, 46, Farmer Lucy A. Shiry, W, F, 48, Keeping House Mary J. Shiry, W, F, 14 Jacob T.E. Shiry, W, M, 11 It would appear by this that this Jacob Shiry and wife Lucy A. were married by at least 1855 or 1856 since their daughter Mary J. was 14 on the Census. Hopefully, we can find Jacob in an even earlier Census and/or info pertaining to what happened to Elizabeth if indeed this Jacob is/was her husband. Shirey, W, F, 57, VA Michael, you said you could not find what happened to Elizabeth Magadelene Sellers that married Jacob Shirey. I would venture to say that she has died by 1880 and Jacob is married to a Lucy A. Unknown. I'll try earlier census records and see if he is married to Elizabeth M. Sellers. Elizabeth Magadelene Sellers born March 1823, Augusta County, Virginia, is a sister to Jerome H. B. Sellers, children of John Conrad Sellers and Catherine Brown. Georgia
