While in town, I reviewed an exhibit at the Big Springs Museum in Caledonia, Livingston County, New York which profiled African American families that migrated from Culpeper, VA between 1870-1900. Some of the names included in the exhibit were COLES, BANKS, WILSON, NELSON, BENTLEY, MICHEAUX, ALEXANDER, SHELTON, CARPENTER, SIMMS and POLES. I am researching the SELLERS, PRICE, LEWIS and WHITE families in Culpeper, VA and Livingston County, NY. If your family migrated from Culpeper, VA to Livingston County, New York, I can put you in contact with the families of the same surname. There is a very rich African-American history in the Livingston County area and the local families are very nice. Please feel free to forward this message to those who might be interested.
