CARL, thanks. don't have an exact definition for Chain Carriers. They were Used by the Surveyor to mark the land. Did they live in the area they were surveying? I don't know if we Show/Know WHO the Surveyor was? WE are missing info before this ORANGE CO, NC documents , which our info shows the THOMAS SELLERS as earliest Proven. AND we should PROVE him to someone. AT one time we had three Thomas SELLERS in NC in this time area.= don't know if any proven to where went? if so, advise. WE need a chart/time line on Each THOMAS SELLERS in NC. THIS land was made in 1752 from Bladen, Johnston, Granville and we could connect to that land. BUT in 1752, did this land lay on the VIRGINIA border? kinda looks like it may? Other counties Above it were made Later? WE should maybe check out the VA land grants with land on HAW , etc. OR where ever our land was on the grants/deeds. WE also could have lost/destroyed records that may Not let us Prove documents. BUT, we may be missing some unchecked areas. and we MAY only Prove thro War or Land Records THANK YOU all for sharing documents. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: Sellars Shop [mailto:sellarsshop@mychoice.net] Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2004 2:27 PM To: marie sellers hollinger Subject: marie, i photo copied page 3 of the 1755 tax list of orange county, nc 2-3 years ago on which is listed: thomas sellers 1-0; richard parker 1-0; peter parker & miles parker & 2 slaves 2-2; robert milton 2-0 comment. i think thomas was the oldest sellars because he had property while james, robert and sampson were chain carriers indicating young adults. i understand that teens were typically given the job of CC. carl sellars.
