AL, thank you! Much more info than our extraction that showed a James Grissom listed and omitted the Benjamin Sellers as witness!! Is WINNY named as wife? Do you know where this family is in 1800 and 1810? You did receive papers on Simeon SELLERS Creek war? Good. Did you happen to order Mathew SELLERS file that was in same Company as Simeon? Wonder if he could be an older brother of Simeon 1797. Simeon 1748 does have a male u 16 on the 1790 census? Any ideas welcomed. Thank you for sharing documents. marie, iowa -----Original Message----- From: Al Hewett [mailto:azhewett@cox.net] Sent: Tuesday, January 20, 2004 8:38 PM To: Marie Sellers-Hollinger Cc: EHUDSONIII@aol.com Subject: Re: [SELLERS] Re: Simeon Sellers Thanks, got it. I haven't seen the records for "Elizabeth Galloway about 1778, Susan Unknown before 1790" The will is pretty straight forward dated: 26 Dec 1816. Simon wills to his wife "all Negroes that belonged to us when we was married" Ned, Amie, Jimmy, Phillis, Abram, Gary, Nancy and "to my two children Simion Sellers & Effy Gressom." To my son Simion one Negro woman named Edney with her two children Joe and Harriot. To my Daughter Effy Greissom (they were not consistent with spelling) one Negro woman named Judy and to my Son-in-Law William Greissom his note for $40. He appointed John E. Bate(?), John Cains and "my son Simion Sellers" as executors. He Signed the will which was witnessed by Benjamin Sellers, John X Savage and John Cains. The will was proved in the January term of the court. This really didn't allow him much time to travel to Texas, but you never know. I have seen a lot of other Sellers on the census and other documents but none that correlate time-wise as well as the Simeon Sellers who applied for the Creek War land grant in Alabama. It places him exactly in Brunswick, N.C. as being born there in 1797 and marrying Martha Ann Hewett, sister of Thomas Hewett as documented in the application. By Martha's account on the application he died in Holmes County, Florida in 1875.
