Simeon and Martha (a common nickname of that time period was Pat or Patsy) were married on the 1st of December 1821 in North Carolina according to Simeons application for a bounty land grant for having served 2 months or less in the Creek Indian war. His age was given as 53 in 1850 at the time of his application and age 57 in 1855 at the time of award of the warrant WN68566. From this we derive Simeons calculated birthdate of 1797 or 1798. This information supported by census records and a live interview between my 4th cousin Hazel Carnley Monk and her grand mother Queen Abigale Thomas who was a grand daughter to Simeon Sellars and Martha Ann Hewett. The story was that Thomas, "the brother of Martha Ann, would ride a horse from Geneva, Alabama to see Martha in Westville, Florida" before moved there himself. I believe that Simeon was the son of Simon Sellars whose will was written 26 December 1816 and was proved January 1817, Brunswick County N. C. Wills WB-B/115 or page 44 as stamped on the page. Simon lists Winner Baker as his wife, and his "two" children Simeon Sellars and Effy Greisson, wife of William Greisson. He also appoints his son Simeon Sellers as one of his three executors. If this is our Simeon Sellers he would have been about 20 years old when his father died and 24 years when he married Martha in 1821. All feedback welcomed.
